State of Aviation Media Release

Today the NCDOT released a reportNorth Carolina: The State of Aviation, which highlights the economic impacts of the state’s public airports and the related aviation and aerospace assets that support North Carolina’s aviation economy. NCDOT created the report to help guide future investment in aviation infrastructure and to act as a tool for recruiting future aviation and aerospace industry.  View the NCDOT’s State of Aviation Media Release.

A couple of items which may be of note include:

  • A new report reveals that North Carolina’s 72 publicly owned airports contribute to the state’s economy more than:
    • $52 billion in economic output
    • 307,000 jobs
    • $12.6 billion in personal income
    • $2.2 billion in state and local tax revenues
  • Wilmington International Airport (ILM)’s Economic Impact:
    • Total Economic Output = $1,752,000,000
    • Jobs = 13,000
    • Labor Income = $456,000,000
    • Tax Revenues (State & Local) = $66,000,000
