Avelo Airlines Continues Growth in Wilmington, N.C. with Exclusive New Nonstop Service to the Wilmington, DE / Philadelphia Region

Avelo is the first and only airline offering Wilmington to Wilmington service
Flights to New Haven will also be doubling for the summer travel season
Introductory one-way fares start at $29

Avelo Airlines announced today it is expanding service at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) with exclusive nonstop flights to Delaware’s Wilmington Airport (ILG) – a convenient and easy alternative to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Avelo will be the first and only airline flying from Wilmington to Wilmington.

Wilmington Airport is conveniently located a short drive south of Philadelphia – offering a refreshingly smooth and simple hometown airport experience. ILG’s adjacency to multiple major highways makes it the Delaware Valley’s most convenient and travel-friendly airport, encompassing portions of four states: Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey and the northern Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Avelo’s nonstop service from ILM to Delaware’s Wilmington will begin on June 22 and operate twice-weekly on Thursdays and Sundays utilizing 189-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft. Introductory one-way fares between ILM and ILG start at $29*. Customers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.

Service to Tweed New Haven Airport (HVN) will also be increasing for summer travel beginning June 22. Avelo will be flying to New Haven four times-weekly on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays, doubling the original frequency.

Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Wilmington, NC – we’re growing, again! This new route to the Wilmington / Philadelphia area exemplifies our ongoing commitment to bringing Avelo’s low fares, industry-leading reliability and caring service to coastal North Carolina travelers. Getting to the four-state Delaware Valley region is now easier than ever.”

Jeff Bourk, ILM Airport Director said, “This is awesome news! Our community loves flying Avelo.  We’re excited for more nonstops and more choices for travelers.  Avelo’s service at ILM will result in a nearly 25% growth in enplanements in the coming year.”

New Hanover County Airport Authority Chair Spruill Thompson said, “Avelo’s investment in ILM positively impacts our local economy.  These seven nonstop flights are estimated to have an annual economic impact of $625 million, based on NCDOT’s economic impact report. Thank you Avelo!”

New Hanover County Board of Commissioners Chair Bill Rivenbark said, “As our community continues to grow, so does the list of destinations people can reach from the Wilmington International Airport. Today’s announcement that Avelo Airlines is adding Wilmington, Delaware to the places they fly is certainly exciting news. This and other Avelo nonstop flights are making it easier for our residents to reach the world from their own backyard, while also creating more opportunities for visitors to access our community.”

With this new route, Avelo will now serve seven nonstop destinations from ILM:

  • Fort Lauderdale, FL via Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • Orlando, FL via Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Southern Connecticut via Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN)
