ILM Launches In-Terminal Music Program

New this week, ILM is starting an in-terminal live music program. The program, named ILM Rhythms & Tunes, showcases local musicians from across the Cape Fear Region. Select musicians’ set up in the terminal, post-security down by the laurel oak sculpture, and play for a two-hour set.

“Our community is known for having great live music and lots of local talent. By showcasing these local artists in ILM, we have a chance to highlight that talent right here in the airport, stated Jeff Bourk ILM Airport Director. “It’s also another way for us to continue to enhance the traveler experience.”

ILM has experienced an increase in passenger traffic, setting records for 51 consecutive months. In 2025, ILM expects to serve over 1.7 million passengers. Over the past three years, there was a 65% increase in seats in the market, making ILM is one of the fastest growing airports in the country.

With live music in the terminal, those flying out have a chance to enjoy the performance prior to boarding. Those visiting or coming back home are also “welcomed” by the live music. “Airports are known to be the first impression and last impression on visitors, so this music program is another way for us to reinforce the great experience they have when visiting Wilmington and our Island Beaches,” shared Bourk.

A schedule of the upcoming performances are listed on ILM’s website. If you’re curious if live music will be playing on your next trip, or want to get the name of the performer you enjoyed hearing, visit https://flyilm.com/rhythms-and-tunes
