The ILM airport facility is always open. TSA and the airlines recommend that all travelers arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance of their flight departure time to ensure they have enough time to check in with their airline and go through security.  Since there are several flights that depart ILM in the morning, it is still suggested that you arrive at least 2 hours before your domestic flight, and 2+ hours before any international flight. Airline ticket counters and the TSA security generally start assisting travelers waiting in line at 4am and 4:15 respectively.  There are numerous flights that depart in the morning hours and arriving early ensures as smooth of a travel experience as possible.

Please note, to ensure the security of airline passengers and the nation’s airports, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) began implementing new, stronger screening procedures for carry-on items at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) on April 14th 2018. The new procedures require travelers to place all electronics larger than a cell phone in bins for X-ray screening in standard lanes. Learn more about the enhanced screening procedures.  You can learn more about TSA’s travel updates related to COVID-19 on their COVID-19 website.
