Airport Fire & Rescue

The Airport Fire and Rescue team responds to over 260 calls annually including aircraft incidents, medical emergencies, hazmat spills, fire alarms, and water rescue incidents. The team teaches Fire Life Safety Education by conducting fire station tours to approximately 500 kids and adults yearly. They also teach fire extinguisher and driver training for airport tenants. The Airport Fire and Rescue department provides fire protection for and inspects the fixed based operator (FBO) every 90 days to ensure their fuel service vehicles and fuel farm facilities stay in compliance with both the National Fire Protection Agency Standard for Aircraft Fuel Servicing (NFPA 407) and Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR Part 139).

The Airport Fire Rescue department also facilitates ILM’s certified car seat checking station.  If you need help installing a car seat into a vehicle, please call ILM’s Public Safety Office at 910-341-4336.
