ILM Airport Now Certified Car Seat Checking Station
Wilmington, NC – ILM’s Public Safety Office is now a Permanent Child Passenger Safety Seat Check Station!
ILM’s brand new Permanent Child Passenger Safety Seat Check Station is a partnership between the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Office of State Fire Marshall, The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program and Safe Kids North Carolina. Because the safety of our visitors and community is of utmost importance, ILM aircraft rescue fire fighters have completed the intensive training required that enables education in proper car seat installation. This required training includes a Child Passenger Safety (CPS) certification class that combines classroom instruction, hand-on practice, and a community car seat event where students teach parents how to properly use their seat belts and car seats.
“Because safety is always one of our primary concerns, we are proud to be an official car seat checking station,” Gary Taylor, Operations Manager, stated. “Lt. Dustin Stream, one of ILM’s senior aircraft rescue fire fighters, has worked very hard to obtain this certification and offer the program as a courtesy to our passengers and community!”
