Wilmington International Airport (ILM) Enhances Traveler Experience: Opens 3rd TSA Lane and Improves COVID-19 Safety Measures

ILM has taken steps, with our travel partners, to increase efficiency and improve upon health and safety measures.  Travelers journey through the airport might look a little different than it did pre-COVID. New features and measures include:

  • 3rd TSA Lane:  ILM partnered with the TSA to construct a 3rd security lane for efficiency and additional throughput capacity.  As of today, the lane is now open and operational.  This new security lane will allow TSA to have a dedicated TSA PreCheck lane at ILM and screen passengers during peak passenger volume; reducing wait times and increasing efficiencies.
  • Enhanced Safety Measures & Travel Tips:  ILM has taken steps to further protect passengers and employees.  A few of the key changes passengers may notice at the airport include: coastal-themed social distancing floor markers, 19 hand sanitizer stations, seating changes, and plexiglass.  Travelers can learn more about these safety measures as well as the enhanced cleaning and disinfecting at ILM’s Safe Travels webpage.  TSA has developed travel tips for flying during the pandemic.  For example, bring that hand sanitizer with you.  TSA is currently allowing one hand sanitizer container, up to 12 ounces per passenger, in carry-on bags until further notice.  Bring those wipes along with you too.  Travelers are permitted to bring individually-packaged alcohol or anti-bacterial wipes in carry-on bags.  Jumbo containers are also allowed. Travelers can review TSA’s travel tips on their website.
